On our end, we just need to make sure that the network is fine, 3dsmax and the render servers software are installed well on every nodes. In fact I don’t think we should or even allowed to open their max files. I would like to think that I don’t even have to tinker with their max files at all. I’m guessing you’ll be on a completely seperate network, so chances are you will need your own copies of both and your own license manager.Īs I understand it, (if all goes well I guess), all the render jobs will be sent from their own machines. Again if the other company has Vray and a Vray license server running it could just be pointed to this. All the render nodes look to this machine to get a render license for Vray. It gets a bit complicated because you are different companies, you’ll have to look at the EULAs, but to be safe you’d need one license of each, but in theory you could just get the other companies max disc and install it on all your machines and as long as the job is submitted from one of their licensed copies I’m not sure it would be illegal. However if the other company have licenses for Max and Vray then they already have their render node licenses. I think if your company does not have Max or Vray, then you will need one license of each to be able to have a render farm.
